China New Network, Beijing, September 24 (Reporter Sun Zifa) The third China Stem Cell and regenerative Medicine Collaborative Innovation Platform Conference and standard Conference was held in Huairou, Beijing, on September 24, officially released a series of relevant standards in the field of stem cells. Including the world's first international stem cell standard ISO 24603 "Universal Requirements for Human and Mouse pluripotent stem cells" led by China, a national standard "General Rules for Cell Sterility testing" and "Technical specifications for ethical Review of human stem cell research" and other 7 group standards.

ISO 24603 "General Requirements for Human and Mouse pluripotent Stem cells" is the first stem cell standard in the ISO system of the international standards Organization, which specifies the requirements for the establishment and culture of pluripotent stem cells, biological characteristics, quality control, information management, distribution and transportation. China has released the world's first international standard for stem cells, which has received widespread attention and high praise from experts at home and abroad in the field of stem cells and standards.

Academician Chen Yaguang, president of the Chinese Society for Cell Biology, said that this is a step that must be taken in the development of China's stem cells, and it is also a very important step, which is of great significance to the standardization of the entire field and human health. Ji Weizhi, president of the Stem Cell Biology Branch of the Chinese Society for Cell Biology, believes that the release of the first international standard for stem cells shows that China's basic research in this field and some methods and technologies have stood in the first echelon of the world. Wang Songling, Academician of Stem Cell Biology Branch, believes that the release of ISO 24603 international standard is a zero breakthrough for the stem cell field, contributing Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions to the world's stem cell field.

George Dagher, convenor of the Biotechnology Committee WG2 of the International Standards Organization, believes that the ISO 24603 international standard, which provides the requirements for the identification of pluripotency stem cells to establish and maintain characteristics, is an international consensus reached by national experts based on ISO, and is a key and necessary step in the field of stem cells. Christine L. Mummery, member of the Steering Committee of the International Stem Cell Society and former president of the International Stem Cell Society, spoke highly of the achievements of China's stem cell standards and looked forward to the work of China's stem cell standards to establish an international benchmark in the field of stem cells. Glyn Stacey, member of the Biotechnology Committee of the International Organization for Standards and member of the Standards Steering Committee of the International Stem Cell Society, believes that the development process of ISO 24603 is a difficult process that has been full of challenges for a long time, needs to deal with various international issues in addition to various technical issues, and finally reaches an international consensus. This standard is the first international standard in the field of stem cells, which is a landmark achievement.

Zheng Jian, deputy director of the Department of Basic Research of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, said that the international standard ISO 24603 is not only an entry card for the world's science and technology stage, but also provides strong support for the development of stem cell-related industries, and injected a new dose of scientific and technological innovation in the field of life and health in China. Xu Hang, deputy director of the Science and Technology Promotion Development Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, believes that ISO 24603 international standard is the first international standard in the field of stem cells led by China, Japan, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States and other experts participate in the field, and is also an important reflection of China's international status in the field of stem cells.

The newly released stem cell group standards also include "Human natural killer cells", "human midbrain dopaminergic neuroprecursor cells", "human neural stem cells", "human bowel cancer organoids", "human intestinal organoids" and "General requirements for extracellular vesicular preparation of human stem cells". These international standards, national standards and group standards cover scientific research, clinical and industrial aspects, and systematically stipulate human stem cell research ethics, key quality attributes of stem cells and their derivatives, quality control, etc., and ultimately form a basic consensus in the field of stem cells in China, and are also the technical support and basic guarantee for the industrialization of stem cells.

At the same meeting, Academician Bian Xiuwu, chairman of the China Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Collaborative Innovation Platform, made an annual work report and said that the platform will continue to work hard in stem cell research, clinical and industrial transformation and related policy formulation in the future, and assume its own social responsibilities. At the same time, the China Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Collaborative Innovation Platform, the Stem Cell Branch of the Chinese Society of Cell Biology and the Standards Working Committee of the Chinese Society of Cell Biology also jointly initiated and signed the Declaration on Self-discipline of Stem Cell Industry practitioners, calling on Chinese stem cell practitioners to shoulder social responsibility, pursue excellence, and practice industry self-discipline norms. Jointly promote and maintain the healthy development of the stem cell industry.
